Inspired by a combination of repetitive forms and kirigami paper art, every piece in Alice’s Square Roots collection begins life as one or two square sheets of responsibly sourced, recycled silver. Nothing is subtracted from these sheets, with the aim of drawing complex beauty from simplicity. Each one is pattern cut by hand, and then folded and formed into a 3D item of contemporary jewellery. Emulating stiff pleated fabric, shards of reflective glass and folded paper, her Pleated Collection has an art deco like quality with a contemporary edge. Each design has been meticulously hand carved from jewellers wax, cast in precious metals and matt finished by hand to give a soft and subtle sheen. Alice grew up in London, studied at the Birmingham School of Jewellery, and now lives on the south coast in Brighton. She spent 10 years working within the jewellery trade before designing and making her own jewellery range.
