Laila Smith hand makes her jewellery collection in a studio on the south coast in Brighton & Hove. The work utilises clean lines and silhouettes and although simple in form hints at her interest in architecture, repetitive elements and grid structures. She is happiest bending and shaping metal at her workbench and creating pieces of jewellery that are wearable and beautiful.
Laila graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University and then undertook a 15 month Fellowship in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. She has worked from her current workshop for 12 years and has a teaching studio next door where she runs jewellery classes.
