‘Ghibli’ Tri Earrings

These earrings are textured using fern leaves, the leaves from box hedge and tiny hydrangea flowers. They are made using Sue’s own methods which she calls ‘fossilized plastic’ due to the fine detail which it is possible to capture on the embossed surface of the acrylic.
These particular earrings was inspired by looking at animation films like those by Studio Ghibli, Sue wanted to capture the halcyon summer days that are often shown.

As these are all handmade, each pair will vary slightly to the picture, but will be the same colours & flower design but with slight variations.

The earrings have an approximate total drop length of 45mm and the acrylic section measures 20mm x 20mm x 5mm.

Sue Gregor

By designer: Sue Gregor

Sue links the natural world with the man-made by marrying acrylic with plants to produce beautiful and individual acrylic contemporary jewellery. Her work is a celebration of the organic and the inorganic, the industrial and the natural.

Each piece is individually handmade using real flowers and leaves to create the designs. The plants and weeds that grow in front gardens, wastelands, in hedges and along paths are a rich source of material. Sue collects, dries and presses the leaves and flowers and then uses them to create the designs using a ‘fossilising’ process that she has developed herself. The leaves perish in the process so each piece is unique as all leaves and flowers differ from each other.
